Chasing from behind, Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling scored a last minute goal against Bournemouth. After scoring the goal Sterling frantically ran towards the stands towards the supporters which led to chaos and confusion. It was in this melee that Sergio Aguero was accused of manhandling a Bournemouth steward.
Sterling was shown a second yellow and thus a red for excessive celebration. Aguero was seen in angry confrontation with the stewards who were trying to control the enthusiastic Manchester City supporters. As per reports, the police have taken a statement from one of the stewards who has accused Sergio Aguero of hitting him.
Footage of the incidence exists, and a city source says having seen the tape that Aguero has done nothing wrong and is unlikely to be punished as a result of the accusation.
The Argentine was left out of the starting XI for the trip to Bournemouth, with Gabriel Jesus preferred, but came off the bench in the second half as Man City pushed for a late winner.
There were reports beforehand that Aguero was angry with his omission from the starting lineup and had sat behind on the team bus long after the rest of the squad had entered the stadium.
