The city of Sydney was again shocked by a follower of radical Islam, when they heard the news that an Iranian man stabbed his wife to death for converting to Christianity.
Reportedly, an Iranian man Amir Darbanou(42), stabbed his wife Nasrin Abek(35) for converting to Christianity from Islam. The couple were originally from Iran and had been living in Australia for the past four years, as per the police.
Mr Darbanou had allegedly called his father-in-law in Iran to tell him Ms Abek was dead on Wednesday night and was arrested after her body was found the next day. Ms Abek’s father said his heartache over her death had been made worse by the fact he had to contact police ‘several times’ before they would act.
The 42-year old Iranian, did not enter a plea or apply for a bail when he appeared in Sydney’s Central Local Court on Friday. The next hearing is scheduled on November 24 later this year.
The couple did not have any history of violence, but neighbors reported hearing blood-chilling screams on Wednesday night. The police have claimed to have recovered the knife with which the man stabbed his wife.
Apostasy is considered a crime in Islam, and is punishable to death in many Islamic countries, including Iran.
